PEER COUNSELING
Provides counseling to assist individuals in addressing disability-related issues. Includes consumer-driven support groups and workshops.
Ginny in her fifties has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder. When Ginny came in for Peer Counseling she was living in a non-subsidized apartment on the Westside and had been accruing debt since going through her inheritance left by her mother. After months of working on money management skills, Ginny has successfully managed to pay her bills down and has now received a Santa Monica Section 8 voucher (rental subsidy) in order to even better manage her benefits. Ginny is currently looking for part-time employment in order to maintain her independence.
